Compacted soil and heavy thatch will starve turfgrass of the vital air, water, and nutrients it needs to grow and thrive. Core aeration remedies these issues to facilitate healthy, thick grass. Contact us to schedule a free estimate.

Lawn Aeration Benefits

Benefits of Lawn Aeration and Seeding

Plant roots need air to grow and survive. If the soil is compacted, turf roots are very shallow which decreases the chances for a thicker, lush lawn.

We use specialized equipment to go over your turf, pulling out cores of soil to provide greater airflow and deeper water infiltration into your lawn’s rootzone. By removing these cores (also called plugs) aeration allows your lawn to grow healthier and build deeper, denser roots. Following aeration, overseeding is very beneficial to your lawn.

Aeration Breaks Up Compacted Soil

Overseeding

Overseeding is best done along with core aeration. This is because aeration breaks up soil, allowing grass seeds to be planted into the soil much more efficiently. Fresh, healthy grass seed will be able to take root and grow.

Even with proper fertility, the only other way to thicken up the lawn is to overseed it. Adding in a new, advanced variety grass seed blend to thin and healthy areas will help get the most out of your lawn. With overseeding, we also apply a starter fertilizer which is enhanced with the correct nutrient ratio to maximize establishment and growth.
